About Father Farce

Welcome!

Father Farce was created as my first my first solo project. I'm not new to this, I have been coding for over a decade and have worked on many applications. However, this is the first one where I created everything myself, from the ground up, and for myself.

I have always been a fan of humor, whether it's a huge laugh or just a quiet thought that 'Hey, I get that one!'. Aside from my personal life, I also believe humor has it's place at certain times at work. I have seen humor change the mood during a difficult time, or even bring people together. Sometimes a thing is so cringe-worthy that even the most polar opposites finally agree for the first time ever.

In my time hosting meetings and hunting dad jokes to end them with, I found many sources. However, I could not find a place where these fatherly farces were rated by quantity of knee slaps or categorized as appropriate for an office setting. So, I figured; if I am going to work on my own project, and use semicolons in unnecessarily long sentences, why not make an app that I would also enjoy. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Ratings

We track how much you "like" content with ratings.
A 🙃 ratings is worth zero, a 😃 is worth 1, and a 🤣 is worth 2.
We then calculate an overall rating using these values:
💩 = overall rating between 0.0 and 0.4999 and so on...
🙃 = overall rating between 0.5 and 0.999 ...
😃 = overall rating between 1 and 1.498675309 .
🤣 = overall rating equal or greater than 1.5 .

We also want to know if content is "Not Safe For Work" (but still belongs here), or if something doesn't belong on Father Farce at all.
To do that, we have added the 🔞 option to report content as something you would not share in an office setting, or would be inappropriate for someone under 18.
You can use the 🚩 option to report content that does not adhere to our Content Guidelines, expectations, the spirit of this site, or just does not belong on Father Farce.

We will identify thresholds using the ratings and these options to flag content appropriately.
This icon 🔞 in the overall rating will mean it is inappropriate in a work setting or with minors (but otherwise acceptable).
This icon 🤬 in the overall rating will mean it is not appropriate for Father Farce. This content will not show in most places on the site, unless navigated to directly.

We will also be reading the content that is submitted by users, and adding to a list of FaFa approved or "Safe" for work as time allows.
